Success Go Get It

Join us to kick off our Success Mentality mentorship program with a special  Success Go Get It presentation hosted by two keynote speakers after our Wednesday chess lesson!

Michael Anthony Young and Johvan Brown will cover topics such as personal and social development, leadership, and teamwork. 

Speaker Bios

Michael Anthony Young

Michael Anthony leads his consultant company with responsibility for business in the United States and Canada. He also oversees the company’s ongoing efforts to expand his community-based program Turn It up Productions. Mr. Young currently serves as Assistant Youth Director at the Salvation Army in Buffalo, New York. He supports the Director’s plan for developing, organizing, marketing and evaluating activities and experiences for youth and young adults from 5 to 25 years old. Michael Anthony serves as Director of the Turn It Up Mentorship program, an oriented community-based program that mentors, coaches and guides youth and adults to achieve personal, financial and emotional growth through education and empowerment at the highest level.

Michael’s previous role was Lead Project Manager in Divisional/International Marketing at HSBC. He was responsible for the company’s increasing development and expansion efforts in emerging markets, both domestically and internationally, in urban-rural communities. Before joining HSBC, Mr. Young served as Senior Counselor for youth released from correctional facilities and supervised a team of counsellors. He provided personal counselling and mentorship and his responsibilities included transporting and scheduling mandated parole appointments, attending judicial court cases and arranging housing and drug and alcohol treatment placement.

Johvan Brown

Johvan Brown is a dedicated social service worker who has served in a variety of roles in the GTA over the past 6 years. He obtained his qualifications from George Brown College in 2017 and has been working to provide support to youth and adults experiencing mental health, addictions, and housing insecurity.

Johvan developed a passion for group facilitation, public speaking, and personal development. His work has been evident as a Case Manager and Child and Youth Worker where he aims to foster strong working relationships with each of his clients and helps them to reach their goals. Johvan is known for his excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which have enabled him to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Johvan’s ultimate goal is to help individuals and communities thrive by promoting mental wellness and advocating for equitable access to resources. He believes that by empowering people to take control of their lives, they can achieve their full potential and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
